Towson Town Center Takes Stand Against Unruly Youth with New Code of Conduct

In a bold move to combat the growing problem of unsupervised and disruptive teenagers, Towson Town Center has implemented a youth code of conduct. The policy, which aims to restore order and safety to the shopping experience, requires youths aged 17 and younger to be accompanied at all times by a parent or supervising adult aged 21 or older after 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The mall’s decision comes as a much-needed response to the recent stabbing incident involving three teenagers at the end of May. This shocking event has highlighted the urgent need for stricter measures to curb juvenile delinquency and protect law-abiding citizens.

Under the new policy, proof of age may be required for both the youth and the supervising adult. Those who fail to provide proper identification may be asked to leave the premises. The mall has made it clear that those who refuse to comply with this reasonable request may face arrest and prosecution for criminal trespass.

To ensure effective supervision, the policy allows one adult to accompany up to four youths, with the exception of children aged 10 and younger. The supervising adult is expected to take full responsibility for the actions of the youths under their care, emphasizing the importance of personal accountability.

Towson Town Center’s proactive approach to addressing the issue of unsupervised youth is commendable. By implementing this code of conduct, the mall is sending a clear message that disruptive behavior and criminal activity will not be tolerated. It is a step in the right direction towards creating a safer and more enjoyable shopping environment for families and responsible individuals.

Other Baltimore-area malls, such as The Avenue at White Marsh and The Mall in Columbia, have already implemented similar youth policies with success. It is heartening to see Towson Town Center joining their ranks in prioritizing the safety and well-being of their patrons.
