Maryland Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

A 27-year-old Cecil County resident was taken into custody Tuesday morning by Maryland State Police on charges related to the distribution of child pornography. Jonathon M. Schultheis of Rising Sun, Maryland, faces five counts of distributing child pornography.

The arrest stems from an investigation initiated in March 2024 by the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Acting on information gathered during the probe, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Schultheis’s residence.

The operation involved a collaborative effort between multiple agencies. The Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Criminal Enforcement Division led the investigation, with support from Homeland Security Investigations.

Schultheis was apprehended at the scene without incident. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Cecil County Detention Center. As of the latest report, he is being held without bond.

This case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the exploitation of minors online. Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious online activities involving children to the proper channels.
