Elon Musk slammed The New York Times as a “mouthpiece of the state.”

His comments came in a Tuesday post on X after the newspaper promoted a video opinion piece on the social media platform. The video was headlined: “It Turns Out the ‘Deep State’ Is Actually Kind of Awesome.”

“In Opinion: Donald Trump is obsessed with ‘the deep state,’” the Times’ post read. “We went on a road trip across the U.S. to find the people behind this scary-sounding entity. Turns out, they’re kind of awesome.”

Adam Westbrook and Lindsay Crouse had bylines on the video.

The video features a collection of interviews with government workers and some jabs at Trump.

It ends with: “But Trump’s teaching us to expect the worst from people in government, when the truth is they’re actually some of our best.”

Mediaite noted the video attracted its fair share of critics, including Musk.

“Perfect New York Times headline,” journalist Glenn Greenwald, wrote on X. “Perfect expression of predominant U.S. liberal ideology.”
