A New York City man was arrested and charged last week with numerous weapons offenses after police found a gun, ammunition, knives, and other weapons in his possession half a mile from LaGuardia Airport, authorities said.

Judd Sanson, 27, was initially pulled over by police Wednesday at 1:25 a.m. near the airport for having a covering over his license plate, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.

As police approached Sanson’s black 2013 Ford Explorer, they saw a black handle protruding from a holster that was strapped to Sanson’s right pants leg, Katz said.

Sanson was asked if he had a knife and removed a black knife with a black handle from the holster and placed it near the center console of the vehicle, Katz said.

Officers then observed and recovered a black Glock semiautomatic 9 mm pistol loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition from inside a holster which was under the driver’s seat, Katz said.

Police then discovered an arsenal of weapons in his car, including more than 170 rounds of ammunition, knives, a machete, a stun gun, a whip, a body armor vest with an NYPD patch inside it, an MTA vest and a baton with the words “Left Me No Choice,” “You Gon Learn Today” and an Arabic expression that means “Ask in God for Forgiveness,” Katz said.

Sanson was charged with 16 counts of criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a pistol or revolver ammunition, and unlawful use of a police uniform of emblem, Katz said. Sanson faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, Katz said.
