Bus driver accused in deadly I-95 Stafford Co. crash released from hospital, now in jail

New information has been released in the Interstate 95 crash investigation that killed five people and injured 44 in Stafford County.

Authorities said Jing Sheng Dong, 48, of Staten Island, New York, has now been released from the hospital and is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail as of June 9. Officials also released his mugshot on Tuesday morning.

Dong, the bus driver accused in the May 29 chain-reaction crash, is facing five counts of involuntary manslaughter and one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.

The crash happened in a work zone along Interstate 95 when Virginia State Police say traffic was slowing ahead and the motorcoach struck the back of a traffic queue, triggering a multi-vehicle collision.

Officials said the incident involved a total of seven vehicles, including the bus.

Five people killed in the crash were identified as a 45-year-old male, a 44-year-old female, a 13-year-old female, and a seven-year-old male, all from Greenfield, Mass., and Priscilla R. Mafalda, 25, of Worcester, Mass. About 44 others were taken to hospitals, and three suffered critical injuries.
