Secretary Rollins says she will investigate regulations for farmers selling milk

Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said she would be investigating new regulations recently given to dairy farmers to continue to sell milk.

A video of a Wisconsin dairy farmer describing the new regulations went viral on X and it got the secretary’s attention.

The farmer said she got a letter in the mail from her milk processing plant that stated that they were updating their “sustainable” agriculture policy. The new requirements were reportedly set to meet climate net-zero ESG goals

She said that it felt like blackmail because the letter said the update is voluntary but if you don’t participate, your milk won’t be sold.

“They need to know herd data, nutrition data, energy data, total terms of natural gas, [and] total gallons of diesel,” the farmer said.

“Mind you, this is for a whole year – total gallons of propane , total gallons of biodiesel and total kilowatt of electricity for 12 months.”

She said this felt “totally” voluntary.

“Yep..voluntary,” she said. “Totally. All right everybody have a great day.”

The video was shared by another milk farmer from Wisconsin, Abby Swan.

“Thank goodness this is getting the attention it deserves!” Swan wrote in a post on X.
