DHS Watchdog Probes Secret Service’s Handling of Rally

The inspector general of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has opened an investigation into the Secret Service’s planning of former President Donald Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania, rally where a man tried to assassinate the Republican presidential candidate and shot him.

The inspector general will “evaluate the United State Secret Service’s process for securing former President Trump’s July 13, 2024, campaign event,” a notice on the inspector general’s website stated.
