Former Democrat and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard told ABC News that she “respectfully declined” to be Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate.

“I met with Kennedy several times, and we have become good friends,” Gabbard said in a statement on Tuesday. “He asked if I would be his running mate. After careful consideration, I respectfully declined.”

According to Axios, both Kennedy and former President Donald Trump have eyed Gabbard as a potential running mate.

Last month, Gabbard said she “would be open” to being Trump’s vice-presidential pick, noting that her “mission is to serve our country.”

Kennedy’s campaign did not comment on the matter.

On March 26, Kennedy announced Silicon Valley attorney and entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan as his running mate.
