
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) — Anne Arundel County Public Library has unveiled its list of the top 10 most checked out books of 2025, with a notable return to the top spot for a women’s empowerment novel.
“The Women” by Kristin Hannah, which also led the charts in 2024, was the most popular adult fiction book, checked out 1,165 times by library patrons.
In the adult fiction category, “James: A Novel” by Percival Everett followed with 833 checkouts, while “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry was borrowed 806 times.
Other popular titles included “Here One Moment” by Liane Moriarty with 795 checkouts and “We All Live Here” by JoJo Moyes with 761 checkouts.

The adult nonfiction category was led by “Madness: Race and Insanity in a Jim Crow Asylum” by Antonia Hylton, which was checked out 459 times. Erik Larson’s “The Demon of Unrest” had 367 checkouts, and “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins was borrowed 358 times.
Rounding out the list were “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt with 310 checkouts and “The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder” by David Grann with 267 checkouts.
