MIAMI (WKRC) – A man reportedly woke up to a burglar touching his genitals on Sunday.
According to WPLG, 34-year-old Maykel Rodriguez Jr. was taken into custody after he allegedly broke into an apartment and sexually assaulted a man while he was sleeping.
Authorities responded to a report of a burglary in Miami, Florida, at around 4 a.m. Sunday. Upon arriving at the scene, the victim told law enforcement he had gone to sleep after spending time with friends in a parking lot but could not remember whether he locked his door after returning home.
The victim said he “woke up” to Rodriguez “on top of me and touching my penis over my clothing.” The suspect allegedly then “exposed his penis and urinated on me before leaving the room,” according to WPLG’s report.
Before grabbing his clothes and leaving, the suspect — who lives a few blocks away from the victim’s apartment — allegedly told the man, “I know you,” the outlet reported.
Rodriguez reportedly “refused to speak or answer any questions” after the victim was able to “positively identify” him as the suspect, according to the report.
The suspect was arrested on the following charges, per WPLG:
During a court appearance, Rodriguez’s attorney said his client had served in the United States Air Force for five years and requested that he be granted bond, WPLG reported.
Prosecutor Nessa Eth said the “facts are pretty egregious. He’s breaking into someone’s home after four in the morning, molesting him, urinating on him,” according to the report.
The judge found probable cause to upgrade the charge to burglary with assault or battery and said “there may be more to the story,” the outlet reported.
Rodriguez is expected to appear in court for a hearing on Tuesday, December 30.
