MILTON, Fla. — A woman is charged with abusing a dog at a dog grooming business in Milton.
Kerree Patterson, 37, was arrested Friday afternoon on charge of animal cruelty. She was released from jail Friday night on $1,000 bond.
The incident took place at So Pawsh Dog Grooming in Milton.
Milton Police says it initiated an investigation last Monday.
“Officers reviewed witness statements and surveillance footage, which shows the suspect repeatedly striking a coon hound dog in the head and hindquarters, as well as lifting the animal by its throat and forcing it onto its hind legs before striking it again,” Milton Police says in a statement.
Police arrested Patterson following the investigation.
The release does not state whether or not Patterson was working as an employee at the business.
As a condition of her release, Patterson is prohibited from possessing or caring for any animals.
“Animal cruelty is a serious offense, and the Milton Police Department remains committed to the protection of animals within the community,” police says. “The department will continue to take swift and appropriate action to hold individuals accountable for acts of abuse and neglect to the fullest extent of the law.”
