Minnesota is going to be subject to a massive investigation by Congress and Democratic Gov. Tim Walz has been put on notice.

House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie told Fox News Digital that his panel is requesting fraud referrals, audits and communications from Minnesota officials to look into how long alleged fraud in the state has been going on.

“The extensive fraud schemes being perpetrated in Minnesota have wreaked havoc on government-funded health programs,” the committee said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“We have an obligation to ensure finite taxpayer dollars are being used responsibly, and that the most vulnerable Americans are not being exploited to the benefit of fraudsters and foreign actors,” the statement continued.

The committee also sent a letter to Walz and Minnesota Human Services Temporary Commissioner Shireen Gandhi by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

It is requested that Walz explain if he took any measures since 2019 to detect and fix fraud, waste and abuse.

Minnesota made headlines last month when YouTuber Nick Shirley filmed himself going to daycare centers in Minnesota that appeared vacant.

Shirley alleged that millions of taxpayer dollars funded these daycare centers, meaning taxpayer money was funding fraud.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggested last week that if the federal government could recover fraud from Minnesota, it could be used to fund President Donald Trump’s defense plan.
