WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. — Former University of Michigan Head Football Coach Sherrone Moore returned to court Thursday for a probable cause hearing in his criminal case, his first appearance since his arraignment one month earlier.
Moore was fired and arrested in December over accusations of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member and breaking into her home.
During the hearing, Moore’s new attorney Ellen Michaels asked the judge to adjourn the hearing for 30 days so the defense team could review phone records and Title IX documents. Judge J. Cedric Simpson then moved to adjourn the hearing until March 19.
Michaels also told the court she filed a motion to dismiss the arrest warrant for Moore, who was released on a $25,000 cash/surety bond Dec. 12. A hearing to consider that motion is scheduled for February 17 at 2 p.m.
Moore, who was joined in court by his wife and attorney, is facing the following charges:
According to police reports, Pittsfield Township Police and Fire responded to an assault on Ann Arbor-Saline Road, about two miles west of Ann Arbor’s Briarwood Mall, on Dec. 10.
Moore, hours after he was fired from The University of Michigan, allegedly broke into the staff member’s home and threatened to kill himself.
He was found in Saline, Mich. the same night, and was given an evaluation at an area hospital before he was taken to Washtenaw County Jail.
Succeeding Jim Harbaugh as head coach in 2024, Moore spent two seasons as the Wolverines’ head football coach.
