WASHINGTON (TNND) — The United States officially finished its withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement.
“The Paris Climate Agreement undercuts American energy independence, seeks climate finance redistribution, and tries to enforce net-zero compliance pressure,” the Department of State wrote on X Tuesday.
Underneath the post was a picture of President Donald Trump with a caption that said the U.S. withdrew from the “one sided globalist scheme.”
Trump ordered the U.S. to leave the Paris Climate Agreement last year.
Earlier this month, he signed an executive order that directed the U.S. be withdrawn from 66 international organizations that don’t benefit the U.S.
“The Memorandum orders all Executive Departments and Agencies to cease participating in and funding 35 non-United Nations (UN) organizations and 31 UN entities that operate contrary to U.S. national interests, security, economic prosperity, or sovereignty,” the order reads.
Recently, Trump withdrew from the World Health Organization.
“This decision was driven by profound failures in the WHO’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic originating in Wuhan, China; its persistent refusal to implement necessary reforms; and its lack of accountability, transparency, and independence,” the Health and Human Services department said in a statement.
