
PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — Maryland State Police arrested a man on suspicion of impaired driving after a trooper was hit during a crash early Saturday morning in Prince George’s County.
The accused was identified as Rayshaud Shield, 32, of Upper Marlboro. Shield, the driver of a black Ford F-150 involved in the crash, faces multiple traffic offense charges, including suspected impaired driving.
Shield is being held at the Prince George’s County Detention Center awaiting a hearing before a court commissioner.

According to MSP, the crash happened shortly after 7 a.m. on southbound Branch Avenue near Moores Road in Brandywine. Troopers from the College Park Barrack responded after reports of a crash involving a patrol vehicle.
Investigators said a marked state police cruiser with emergency lights activated was parked behind an unoccupied vehicle stopped in the right lane. While the trooper was outside the patrol vehicle checking on the situation, the Ford F-150 struck the rear of the cruiser, causing it to hit the trooper.
The trooper was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center for treatment and has since been released.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration helped with road closures in the area while emergency crews responded and investigators worked the scene.
Troopers from the MSP College Park Barrack are leading the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
