Three teenagers, two 14-year-old males with ankle monitors from previous arrests and one 14-year-old female, were arrested following an officer-involved discharging incident in southwest Baltimore on Sunday, officials announced.

On Feb. 15, around 12:05 p.m., officers were called to a report of armed individuals attempting to break into the caller’s home in the 800 block of W. Lombard Street.

Upon arrival, police reported that an officer approached a Kia sedan occupied by several individuals.

The officer exited his vehicle, at which point the driver shifted the Kia into reverse and collided with a parked vehicle.

Officials said that the officer approached the Kia on foot and issued verbal commands for the vehicle to stop and for the occupants to exit.

However, the Kia reversed once more, striking the officer and causing him to fall.

In the process, the officer discharged his firearm at the vehicle.

The Kia continued to leave the scene, colliding with another car and the officer’s patrol vehicle.

Shortly after, the officer saw a male appearing to be injured and then collapsing to the ground. The officer rendered aid and reassured him of his safety.

Police said the male sustained injuries from being assaulted by several individuals before the officer arrived at the scene.

Not long after, police located the Kia, which was unoccupied at the 100 block of S. Arlington Avenue, after it struck a parked vehicle.

Detectives learned that the vehicle was reported stolen in the 600 block of E. Chase Street on Feb. 14 around noon.

Investigation revealed that two suspects were inside the Kia during the incident: two 14-year-old males. Police said they were identified through electronic monitoring for prior incidents in which they were charged with robbery and auto theft.

Both teens were arrested on Feb. 16 and charged with aggravated assault and auto theft, according to authorities. Both were transported to Juvenile Booking.

Detectives then learned that the driver of the Kia was a 14-year-old female, and during her arrest on Feb. 17, officers learned she sustained a wound to her wrist, which was previously treated on Feb. 15.

After further review and speaking with her mother, detectives were advised that the injury may have been a gunshot graze wound. Police noted that further follow-up is required to determine the cause of that injury.

The female was arrested and taken to Juvenile Booking, where she is charged with aggravated assault and stolen auto, and was later released on electronic monitoring, police reported.

The officer who was involved in this incident was identified as William Cole, a five-year veteran. Authorities said he sustained injuries to his ankle but has been treated and released from the hospital.

The Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) is investigating this incident.
