Rep. Luna slams Congressional ethics, saying they have dirt on members and pay people off

Florida GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna late Monday night slammed the Office of Congressional Ethics, stating that they have dirt on members and have a slush fund they use to pay people off.

“Congressional ethics is a joke,” she wrote in a lengthy post on X.

“They have so much dirt on members of Congress, and they do nothing. There is even a slush fund they use to pay people off with your tax dollars. This is part of why the system is so broken. They’re sitting on reports, and if someone steps out of line, isn’t it ironic how they leak them, threaten to leak them, or time it for right after Election Day?”

This post comes after news of text messages between Texas Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales and his former staffer who died by suicide last year.

There was speculation that Gonzales and his former regional district director Regina Santos Aviles were having an affair, which would be in violation of the U.S. House Ethics rules.

The text messages from 2024 show that Gonzales requested a “sexy pic” from Santos-Aviles.

Gonzales responded to the allegations and said he would not be “blackmailed.”

Luna said there is a serious problem with sexual misconduct on Capitol Hill.

“It pisses me off because while some of us are actually working and busting our asses, these clowns are sexually harassing their own staff, doing illegal crap, insider trading etc,” she said.

“It sets a terrible precedent for the entire institution.”

She concluded by saying that “predatory freaks” need to get out of office.

“YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE,” Luna wrote. “This behavior is reprehensible and a poor reflection on the Republican Party, and I will not tolerate this type of moral rot in my own party. NOR should the AMERICAN PEOPLE.”
