“Say TwinBefore you send them babies off to schoolCHECK. THE. LUNCHBOX. Because why are we getting reports of juice boxes sitting next to Cutwater margaritas??” the City of South Fulton Police Department wrote on Facebook.
The post, which police shared on Wednesday, included a photo of the alleged lunch box. In the image, a canned lemon drop martini was wedged next to a bag of chips and other snacks.
“That is NOT Capri Sun. That is NOT Apple Juice,” police wrote on Facebook. “That is a whole ‘Parent had a long night’ starter pack. Now little Johnny done pulled up to 3rd period talking about: ‘Who want fruit snacks?’ knowing good and well he got a Lemon Drop Martini in the zipper pocket.”
Police told parents to “TIGHTEN UP.” The department also said while they realize mornings can be hectic, “your child shouldn’t be the only one in the cafeteria with a beverage that requires an ID.”
“If it says 12% ABV it does NOT belong next to a PB&J,” police wrote. “Check the lunchbox before the Fulton County Schools Police resource officers gotta do inventory at recess.”
As of Thursday afternoon, the post garnered more than 7,000 reactions, nearly 1,000 shares, and at least 700 comments.
“Idk about y’all but those 12% ABV be hitting pretty hard with that smuckers uncrustable on a hot summers [sic] day on the lake,” one person wrote.
“Grabbed Dad’s lunchbox by mistake,” another person wrote, while others joked that it was probably a teacher’s lunch.
A few commenters defended the parents, saying the beverage looked like seltzer water at first glance.
“I probably would’ve bought it thinking it was flavored seltzer,” the person wrote.
One woman claimed a similar situation happened to her family.

“One of my kids did that once. He almost got expelled since he was in high school, but luckily didn’t,” another person wrote. “I told them ‘the truth is he’s dumb and we didn’t really drink often, so he thought it was flavored soda water.'”
