
A fleet of roughly 60 unmarked vehicles believed to be intended for use by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is no longer parked atop a midtown Baltimore garage where they were spotted earlier this week.
Itβs not clear when the pack of SUVs and pickup trucks left the Symphony Center Garage. On Tuesday, however, reporters from The Baltimore Sun saw several dozen seemingly brand new vehicles lined along the top ramp and upper level of the structure.
The vehicles, coupled with a recent increase in orders for shelf-stable meals typically purchased for detainees, suggested ICE may have been bolstering inventory for its Baltimore Field Office. The agency has not directly addressed whether the increase in their supplies indicates more ICE agents will or are operating in the city, or if a spike in detainments will occur.
An ICE spokesperson on Tuesday called the vehicles βa necessary piece of equipment for onboarding officers and agents,β noting thousands of recruitments across the agency. On Friday, they said the ready-to-eat breakfasts, lunches and dinners are given to undocumented immigrants in their custody βto ensure timely and consistent access to meals while we continue to prioritize their safety and well-being.β
