Vance insists there’s no way Iran fight turns into an Iraq-style full-blown war

Vice President JD Vance said there is “no way” that the conflict in Iran will turn into a full-blown war.

Vance appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Fox News Monday night where he discussed the Trump administration’s ongoing military movements in Iran. The conversation between Vance and Watters comes in the wake of Operation Epic Fury, resulting in the death of its leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

As a result of the military strike, six United States service members have been killed, according to U.S. Central Command. President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have said it’s likely that the American death toll could likely climb.

Watters echoed concerns that the conflict in Iran could land the United States in a war mirroring Iraq and Afghanistan, but Vance argued that Trump’s attacks were different since Trump has a “clear objective.”

He said that the United States spent 20 years in Afghanistan lacking “a clear objective” and nearly a decade in Iraq with “no clear mission.”

“What’s so different about this Jesse is that the President has clearly defined what he wants to accomplish, and there’s just no way,” Vance paused. “I said this before the conflict started. I’ll repeat it again. There’s just no way that Donald Trump is going to allow this country to get into a multi-year conflict with no clear end in sight and no clear objective.”

Trump and Hegseth have outlined their four-point strategy in Iran, which consists of destroying Iranian offensive missiles. Destroying Iranian missile production, destroying Iran’s Navy, and the most pressing issue: ensuring Iran will not have a nuclear weapon.

Vance shared in his conversation that the administration will not let up on its attack until it can ensure these objectives are met.

“I think the President just wants to make it clear to the Iranians and the world that he is not going to rest until he accomplishes that all important objective of ensuring that Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon, not just for the next few years, not just because we obliterated Fordo or some other enrichment facility, but because the Iranians themselves commit long term to not building a nuclear weapon,” Vance said.
