Fire in Cecil County causes $500K in damage to commercial garage

A property owner in Cecil County is out half a million dollars following a 2-alarm fire Wednesday afternoon, according to The Office of the State Fire Marshal.

On March 11, around 12:57 p.m., the Hacks Point Volunteer Fire Company responded to 1500 Glebe Road in Earleville for a commercial structure fire.

Upon arrival, fire crews found an 80′ x 3′ metal-framed garage engulfed in flames.

It took 50 firefighters one hour to get the blaze under control, according to officials.

No injuries were reported, and no arrests were made.

An initial investigation revealed no smoke alarms, fire alarms, or sprinkler systems were present.

Officials estimate the damage to be about a $500,000 loss.
