A 56-year-old woman was brutally stabbed to death in Towson over two decades ago, and Baltimore County detectives are turning to the community for help in solving her murder.

On March 24, 2001, officers responded to Atlantic Cleaners in the 700 block of Walker Avenue for a report of a person in cardiac arrest.

That person was later identified as 56-year-old Mary Roe.

Mary Roe’s case stuck out to me, as just being so gruesome, her death,” Detective L. Buckingham with the Baltimore County Police Department’s Cold Case unit said. “This one was extremely horrific.

Roe was scheduled to work early that morning, and her manager found her body behind the front counter just before 8 a.m., with multiple stab wounds across her body.

That was more than two decades ago, but detectives remain optimistic.

“No case is ever left behind,” Buckingham said.
