Dixon followed the victim to her child’s bus stop from a shopping center, where he attacked and threatened her with a knife.

Dixon tried to drag the woman to his car, but she managed to fight him off and get away.

Officers were able to get a partial plate on Dixon’s car and identify him through security footage.

The man was previously convicted of a violent rape in 1994. That victim was stabbed multiple times with a screwdriver but survived. At the time, Dixon was sentenced to life in prison but was released after less than 25 years for good time credit, according to the St. Mary County State’s Attorney’s Office.

“With this new sentence, the Defendant will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars. This victim and the previous victim, along with every potential victim, are now safe from him,” said State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling said in a statement.
