MARYLAND — A person was bitten by a shark at Assateague State Park on Sunday morning.
Crews from the Berlin Fire Company and at Assateague State Park confirmed they responded to the scene and were still investigating as of 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
It was a “very chaotic scene” at the beach, one park ranger told The Baltimore Sun. Park rangers and first responders were still at the scene, they said.
While sharks are often spotted offshore at Assateague during the summer months, this is the first shark sighting at the park this year, a park ranger confirmed.
