MARYLAND (WBFF) — Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is launching a new nonpartisan institute at Washington College aimed at promoting political cooperation, according to a recent report by The Washington Post.
The Hogan Institute, which Hogan announced during a commencement speech on Sunday, will focus on ethical leadership and reforms such as open primaries and limits on gerrymandering.

Hogan added he was drawn to the symbolism of launching the institute during the Nation’s 250th Anniversary at one of the country’s oldest colleges.
He expressed his hope that the institute can address the “broken” two-party system he is leaving behind, The Washington Post wrote.
Hogan said the institute will focus on teaching ethical leadership skills at a time when he believes the “nation desperately needs it.”

The former governor also aims to help cultivate a generation of ethical leaders who can connect with voters in the political center and pull the country away from polarized politics, stating in the article, “They’re the only ones that have a chance to.”
Hogan emphasized his belief that younger generations may be best positioned to repair the nation’s increasingly divided political landscape.
