(TNND) — Former Attorney General Pam Bondi was reportedly diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after being ousted from the Department of Justice in April.
Sources confirmed to Axios that she has since undergone treatment and is recovering.
Katie Miller, a former White House staffer and podcast host married to White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller, commented on the report on X, saying Bondi “has been quietly kicking cancer’s ass for the last few weeks.”
Miller added that Bondi “has a heart of gold.”
Bondi’s health update came alongside news that President Donald Trump had appointed her to an advisory committee focused on artificial intelligence policy.
According to the report, she is expected to serve on the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
Since Bondi departed from the DOJ, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has served as acting attorney general.
Meanwhile, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced Friday that she would also be leaving the Trump administration to care for her husband after he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
Gabbard shared the news on social media, adding that her resignation will take effect June 30.
Trump later took to Truth Social to thank her for doing “a great job” during her time in the administration and to offer well wishes to her husband.
“I have no doubt he will soon be better than ever,” Trump wrote. “Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her.”
Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas will serve as acting director of national intelligence.
