
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A force main break in Severna Park, Maryland, sent 16,200 gallons of sewage into a nearby creek, the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works said.
The break happened in the 800 block of Ritchie Highway on Sunday. Officials were first notified of the overflow around 4:30 p.m.
Thousands of gallons of sewer spilled into Cypress Creek, and was not contained until 7:30 p.m. Crews limed and vacuumed over the contaminated areas, and continued to clean up on Monday.

Majority of the overflow was contained on land, the department said. The cause of the break has not been determined.
Health officials advised that anyone who may have come in contact with the affected area to wash thoroughly with soap and warm water, and to do the same to any clothing.
