David Crowley Is Trying Really Hard to Win Over Voters. Can It Work?

The Wisconsin primary is in four days, and after what happened in Michigan, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley isn’t counting himself out of the race yet. His campaign released a memo saying that the polling is likely overestimating the youth vote and that if trends from 2018 and 2022 repeat in 2026, the primary could be closer than anticipated.

Crowley is trying to paint himself as a moderate, much like Hong, and even went so far as to say that Democrats “don’t have a monopoly on good ideas,” and that Democrats need to listen to Republicans and independents.

“I would argue we have to listen to independents and Republicans because we don’t have a monopoly on good ideas,” Crowley said.

Unfortunately for Crowley, an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel indicated that Crowley said his policy priorities aren’t that different from Hong’s, which include abolishing law enforcement and ending the state’s school voucher program.

That’s exactly what Democrats fear, and why they made Crowley get back into the race. They know Hong will lose if she’s the nominee.
