BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Two scooter crashes and a fight involving several female students occurred during a “teen takeover” Monday at The Rotunda in the city’s Hampden neighborhood, police said.
Monday marked the first day of school for Baltimore City Public School students.

“Teen takeovers” have been happening across the country in the past couple of years.
On the evening of August 24, officers were called to The Rotunda, located at 711 W. 41st Street, by security personnel to help with a large group of students in the area.
When officers arrived, they saw a large crowd of students vending at multiple stores in the area and using the public space.
While police were on scene, two students riding Lime scooters separately lost control and were involved in crashes, according to authorities.
Police said one scooter struck a store window, breaking it, while two electric bicycles hit a vehicle in a parking lot.

Officers also saw a verbal and physical fight amongst several female students, but police said it was broken up by officers quickly.
The property owner asked policed to escort everyone out of the area, including students and customers. Police said officers dispersed the crowd without incident, and directed traffic around the area.
Authorities didn’t indicate if there were any arrests made nor the ages of the students involved.
