There will be an increased police presence during student arrival and dismissal, Baltimore County Police Department spokesperson Trae Corbin told FOX45 News.
This comes after two student fights, one involving a firearm, at Woodlawn High School last week.
On Oct. 14 around 10 a.m. police were called to the school following a report of a fight, according to The Baltimore Sun. The fight began with a verbal altercation between students. During the school investigation, it was discovered that one of the students had a gun. The school resource officer (SRO) took the firearm until police arrived. Officers then located the loaded weapon and arrested the student involved. No students were hurt and no shots were fired.
The following day, a student was injured in a fight at Woodlawn High School, according to The Baltimore Sun. Police said no weapons were involved in the fight.
After the Oct. 15 fight, students were told to remain in their classrooms while the school went into a lockdown for about an hour, according to ninth grade student Riley Johnson.
