In a startling incident on Friday the 13th, a Patterson Place couple fell victim to a brazen carjacking that shocked local residents. According to Baltimore Police dispatch records, six young males—three of them armed with guns—forcibly took the victim’s vehicle in the 2400 block of E. Fairmount Ave.
The swift response from law enforcement resulted in the arrest of two 14-year-old suspects within two hours of the incident. Police also recovered a loaded handgun from the vehicle, adding to the gravity of the situation.
This carjacking occurred just 17 hours after another disturbing crime, where four 15-year-olds robbed an 81-year-old victim in North Baltimore. Three of these teens already had prior arrests, including previous handgun charges.
Local resident David Nwachukwu voiced the community’s frustration, saying, “I don’t know what needs to happen, but something definitely needs to be done. You release these kids, and the parents don’t do anything, so it just gives them the incentive to go out and do it again.”
Mayor Brandon Scott echoed these concerns, expressing his own frustration with the recurring nature of these crimes. “We are seeing them arrest the same people, sometimes in the same day,” he stated.
