
ESSEX, Md. (WBFF) — The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that took place in Essex, Baltimore County.
Police say on the evening of Dec. 3, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing on the 900 block of Holgate Drive.
When officers arrived around 8:30 p.m., they encountered a man armed with a knife.
Police say that despite verbal commands from the officers, the situation escalated, leading multiple officers to discharge their service weapons, striking the man.
Officers administered medical aid until medics arrived and took the man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to police, inside the apartment, a woman with an apparent stab wound was found and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Additionally, one officer sustained injuries during the incident and was also hospitalized. A knife was recovered at the scene.
The IID has announced that the names of the deceased and the officers involved will typically be released within two business days, although this timeframe may be extended if necessary.
The officers were equipped with body-worn cameras, and the footage is expected to be released within 20 business days, barring any delays due to ongoing investigations or technical issues.
