(TNND) — Christmas music has officially taken over all streaming platforms once again, but this year’s holiday playlists reveal more than seasonal tradition.
Music charts show a mix of longtime favorites, revived classics, and a growing number of newer holiday tracks gaining traction this year.
Leading the surge are long-established Christmas hits that continue to dominate charts each December.

According to Billboard’s Holiday 100 for the week of December 20, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” once again ranks among the most-streamed songs of the season, alongside Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and Wham!’s “Last Christmas.”
In addition to top-tier staples, older holiday songs are experiencing renewed popularity.
Tracks such as Andy Williams’ “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” Jose Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad”, and “Sleigh Ride” by The Ronettes have re-entered holiday playlists, driven in large part by social media exposure.
Viral moments—particularly on TikTok—continue to play a role in reviving older songs, introducing them to younger listeners and extending their chart life well beyond traditional radio rotations.
While breaking into the holiday music ecosystem remains challenging, several contemporary artists are seeing success with newer Christmas releases.
For example, Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me,” remains high on Billboard’s Holiday 100 alongside “Like It’s Christmas” by the Jonas Brothers, “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber and “Snowman” by Sia.

As the holiday season progresses, the charts suggest one clear takeaway: Christmas music remains a powerful annual force, but the way listeners engage with it continues to evolve—blending tradition with rediscovery and, increasingly, modern voices.
