President Donald Trump said the U.S. launched a “powerful and deadly strike” against Islamic State targets in Nigeria.

In a post to Truth Social, the president added that the strike was against those who were targeting Christians.

” have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was,” Trump wrote.

The president has recently threatened groups that targeted Christians in Nigeria.

“Under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper. May God Bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues,” Trump wrote.

Trump wrote the Department of War “executed numerous perfect strikes.”

Earlier this month, the U.S. announced a new visa policy to restrict individuals tied to violence against Christian Nigerians.

“The United States is taking decisive action in response to the mass killings and violence against Christians by radical Islamic terrorists, Fulani ethnic militias, and other violent actors in Nigeria and beyond,” the State Department said in a press release.

The U.S. recently designated Nigeria a “country of particular concern” under the International Religious Freedom Act.
