ROCKVILLE, Md. (7News) — An 18-year-old died Sunday night after running away from the scene of a crash on Interstate 495 in Montgomery County and falling about 50 feet onto a road below, Maryland State Police (MSP) said.
The man, who has not been identified, was driving a blue Ford Fusion when it crashed into an unattended blue Chevrolet pickup truck being towed by a white tow truck shortly after 7 p.m. on the outer loop of I-495 past Georgia Avenue, state police said.
No injuries were reported in the crash.

Witnesses told MSP that the Ford driver got out of his vehicle and ran along the shoulder of I-495 toward Connecticut Avenue. When a trooper arrived, the driver jumped over a railing onto Stoney Brook Drive.

The trooper immediately responded to the area where the man had fallen and attempted life-saving measures, officials said. Montgomery County EMS personnel later arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The man was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. Police have not released his identity.
The area of Stoney Brook Drive and Beach Drive in Kensington and the I-495 outer loop near the Connecticut Avenue exit were closed Sunday night as Maryland State Police investigated the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
