A confrontation over suspected drug use in an apartment building stairwell escalated into vandalism and a stabbing in Silver Spring, Maryland, leading to the arrests of two people now facing attempted murder and other charges.

The Montgomery County Department of Police said Destiny Iyonna Lesueur, 25, and Eric Dewayne Harris Jr., 27, were arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred Feb. 28, in the 11500 block of February Circle.

At about 4:21 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for an initial report of vandalism, police said.

Investigators said the first victim confronted two suspects, later identified as Lesueur and Harris, who were smoking a controlled dangerous substance in the stairwell and blocking the entrance to the apartment building.

Police said Lesueur and Harris then went outside and slashed the tires of the victim’s Honda Odyssey before attempting to leave the scene on foot toward Lockwood Drive.

According to police, another victim tried to follow Lesueur and Harris while calling 911 to report the vandalism. During that encounter, police said, Lesueur and Harris approached that person and stabbed them in the face.

Following the investigation, Lesueur and Harris were named as suspects, police said.

On Monday, March 23, Lesueur and Harris were found and arrested in the 8000 block of 13th Street in Silver Spring by the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Region Fugitive Task Force, police said.

They were taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and face charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, and related offenses, police said. They are being held without bond.
