
GREENBELT, Md. (7News) — Two men were arrested overnight after officers responded to a report of a person waving a handgun near a bus shelter in Greenbelt, Maryland.
Around 11:30 p.m., Greenbelt Metro called about an armed individual near the bus shelter. Responding officers found a man matching the description who was with another man, Greenbelt police said.
When officers approached the two at the bus shelter, they gave verbal commands to both individuals. One man complied, but the other, who matched the description of the armed person, refused to cooperate and continued to ignore commands.

Officers said the man began reaching for what they believed to be the gun. The man was tased by officers and taken into custody.
A handgun was recovered, and a background check showed the man had prior handgun violations.
The second man was also arrested because he had an outstanding warrant, police said.
