EDGEWOOD, Md. (WBFF) — A 21-year-old man is injured following an early morning shooting in Edgewood on New Year’s Day, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 3 a.m. on Jan. 1, Southern Precinct deputies responded to a Baltimore area hospital for a walk-in shooting victim who reported he had been shot in the Edgewood area. The 21-year-old male victim was shot in his upper body and was unable to provide suspect information. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown.

Deputies spoke with a family member of the victim who also witnessed the shooting. The witness said the victim was a front seat passenger in a vehicle that the witness was operating. Three other people were in the back seat, according to officials. The suspect, identified as one of the three people in the back seat, removed a handgun from her waistband and the gun discharged, striking the victim. Shorty after, the suspect and two other witnesses got out of the vehicle, while the witness took the victim to the hospital where he remains.
Detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division are leading the investigation. Forensic Services Unit investigators also responded to assist.
Deputies obtained and executed a court ordered search and seizure warrant on the vehicle. Detectives found a loaded handgun without a serial number as well as additional evidence from inside the vehicle. An apparent bullet hole was also discovered in the vehicle’s passenger side dash, and a bullet was recovered from the vehicle.
A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing. Charges are forthcoming, according to deputies.
