5 people hurt in Montgomery County house fire on Christmas

Five people were injured, one seriously, after a house fire broke out Thursday afternoon in Bethesda, Maryland, according to Montgomery County officials.

Second District officers with the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) around 4:49 p.m. to the 10300 block of Fleming Avenue for reports of a house fire.

When first responders arrived, they found a single-family home with fire throughout the first floor.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service officials said five adults were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. One person suffered serious injuries, while others were treated for less severe conditions. A dog was also resuscitated following the fire.

Fire and rescue crews, including about 65 firefighters, worked to put out the flames and help the victims and pets affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No further details about the victims’ conditions were immediately released.
