The preliminary investigation found the blaze was accidental due to rubber dust igniting within the building’s exhaust venting system, officials said.

The fire was contained to the exhaust system, but the building has extensive damage from smoke, soot and water.

It took an hour for about 45 firefighters to control the fire.

Official said a fire alarm and sprinkler system were both present and worked accordingly.

There were no reported injuries, according to fire officials.

Böttcher Systems ‘develops and supplies elastomer-coated rollers and sleeves for a range of industries, including printing, packaging, and industrial roller applications,” according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
