Baltimore DOT alerts drivers to weekend road closures due to Orioles games, festival

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) is alerting drivers to road closures and traffic pattern changes going into effect this weekend.

The following activities are weather permitting, officials said.

Road and lane closures for Baltimore Orioles home games

The following road and lane closures will be put in place on Thursday, May 28 starting at 3:30 p.m., Friday, May 29 starting at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 30 starting at 1 p.m. and Sunday, May 31 starting at 9:15 a.m.

  • Hamburg Street closed from Leadenhall to Paca Streets
  • The northbound service lane closed next to M&T Bank Stadium
  • Camden Street closed from Paca to Howard Streets

Traffic modifications for the Festival of India and Parade

On Saturday, traffic modifications will go into effect for the Festival of India and Parade, which will be held at the Inner Harbor’s McKeldin Square.

Beginning at noon Saturday, the parade will kick off from McKeldin Square at the intersection of Light and Pratt Streets. Participants will walk south along Light St. and east along Key Highway to finish at Rash Field.

The following traffic modifications will go into effect on Saturday:

  • Westbound Key Highway double right lane closure between Battery Avenue and Lee Street 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Northbound Light Street closure between Pratt and Lee Streets 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Eastbound Conway Street closed between Charles and Light Streets 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastbound traffic will be detoured north on Charles Street and east on Pratt Street during this time.
  • West side Covington Street curb lane closure between Key Highway and Cross Street 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Southbound Light Street left lane closure between Pratt and Conway Streets from 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 29 through 10 p.m. Saturday, May 30.

Officials warn that temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the parade participants’ safety. Baltimore City Police and Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the route to help with the flow of traffic. Drivers may experience delays in this area and are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

Traffic modifications for weekend activities

On Tuesday, May 26, the following road closure will go into effect:

  • Preston St. closed between Maryland Ave. and Cathedral St. from 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26 through 12 p.m. Monday, June 1 (special event – Greek Orthodox Festival)

On Thursday, May 28, the following road closures will go into effect:

  • Exter Street from Fawn Street to Pratt Street 7 a.m. Thursday, May 28 through 7 a.m. Monday, June 1 (special event – St. Anthony Festival)
  • Stiles Street from High Street to Gough Street 7 a.m. Thursday, May 28 through 7 a.m. Monday, June 1 (special event – St. Anthony Festival)

On Friday, May 29, the following road closures will go into effect:

  • Moyer Ave. closed between Glendale and Rosalie Aves. 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. (special event – Woodholme Elementary/Middle School Field Day)
  • Hamburg St. closed between Scott and W. Cross Sts. 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. (special event – George Washington Fun Day)

On Saturday, May 30, the following lane and road closures will go into effect:

  • Hilton Parkway north and southbound left lane closures North Ave. to Hilton St. 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. (cleaning activities)
  • Monument Street closure between Broadway and Wolfe St. 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Caroline Street reduced to one lane between Dock and Lancaster Sts. 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Patterson Park Ave. closed from Monument to McElderry Sts. 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Fayette St. closed from Broadway to Wolfe St. 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Pratt St. closed between S. Gilmor and S. Mount Sts. 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. (special event – Community Day)
  • Mount St. closed between W. Lombard and McHenry Sts. 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. (special event – Community Day)
  • Eager St. closed between Charles and Cathedral Sts. 9 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. (special event – Pride of Mt. Vernon)
  • Morton St. closed between Chase and Eager Sts. 9 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. (special event – Pride of Mt. Vernon)

On Sunday, May 31, the following lane closures will go into effect:

  • Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 north and southbound left lane closures Fayette Street to the city/county line 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. (cleaning activities)

Traffic modifications for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market

On Sunday, traffic modifications will go into effect for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga St. between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, May 3, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway

Drivers traveling nearby should look out for changing traffic patterns and should seek alternate routes, according to officials.
