BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Baltimore police arrested four juveniles, including a 14-year-old girl, after investigators said the teens crashed a stolen vehicle and then fled in another stolen car Tuesday evening in southwest Baltimore.
Police said officers were called about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to North Beechfield Avenue near Pen Lucy Road for a report of a crashed and abandoned vehicle that was stolen. When officers arrived, witnesses provided video and descriptions of three individuals who got out of the crashed car and jumped into another vehicle that had been waiting, police said.
Investigators said the suspects were four juveniles: two 14-year-olds, a boy and a girl, and two 16-year-old boys.

The crash happened near the home of Courtney Duffin who described the situation of ongoing crime involving juveniles as “frustrating.” “There are no consequences, so they think it’s fun, they think it’s cool, and they just go right back to doing the same thing,” said Duffin, who is a parent.
After the crash, police searched the area, spotted the second vehicle and called Foxtrot, the police helicopter unit, to track it, investigators said. Police located the vehicle on North Franklintown Road near Leakin Park, and officers pursued the suspects on the ground and from the air.
In police audio, Foxtrot (BPD’s helicopter unit) reported, “All three of (the suspects), they’re running together.” Moments later, Foxtrot said, “They’re on that wood line, they’re all sticking together, all black clothing.” An officer asked, “Unit 41, are they armed?” Foxtrot responded, “Right now, unarmed. Still trying to piece it together. We got one of the four. Trying to get the other three right now.”

Police said all four suspects were ultimately taken into custody. Investigators said the suspects ditched the second vehicle before running into the woods, and that both vehicles involved were stolen.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley discussed continued juvenile crime, including the Beechfield incident, during a talk radio appearance Tuesday. “Not that I want to see very kid arrested, but at some point, you’ve got to have some kind of discipline,” Worley said. “If not, you’re just going to graduate into the adult system, if you make it that long without having harm done to you or committing something more serious that will get you into the adult system.”
Police said all of the suspects were transported to juvenile booking. Because they are juveniles, the Department of Juvenile Services cannot release information about them, and it was unclear whether they remained in custody or had been released.
