BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Baltimore has been ranked the third-riskiest city for drivers in the United States, according to Allstate’s 2026 America’s Best Drivers Report, which analyzed auto insurance claims data from the nation’s 200 largest cities.
Only Boston, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C., ranked higher for crash risk.

Baltimore was followed by Worcester, Massachusetts, Springfield, Massachusetts, Glendale, California, Providence, Rhode Island, Sunrise Manor, Nevada, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia to round out the top 10.
The annual report, now in its 18th year, ranks cities based on the average number of years between collision claims. Cities with shorter times between crashes rank as having riskier drivers, while those with longer stretches between collisions are considered safer.
According to Allstate, where people drive can influence their likelihood of being involved in a crash, but driving habits also play a major role.

“Where you drive plays a role in your risk, but how and when you drive matters just as much,” Laura Hoffman, vice president of auto design and telematics at Allstate said. “By pairing claims data with driving insights such as speeding, hard braking and phone use from Allstate’s Drivewise, we’re helping drivers take simple steps to prevent crashes and keep insurance costs down.”
The report combines insurance claims data with insights from Drivewise, Allstate’s safe-driving program available through its mobile app.

The program provides feedback on behaviors such as speeding, hard braking and phone use behind the wheel, encouraging safer driving habits that can help reduce crashes and potentially lower insurance costs.
