BALTIMORE (WBFF) β Baltimore City Recreation & Parks is expanding pool hours, opening recreation centers as cooling centers, and canceling outdoor programming from Wednesday, July 1, through Sunday, July 5, in response to the cityβs Code Red Extreme Heat Alert.
All Park Pools and Neighborhood Pools will operate on an expanded schedule during the Code Red period. Neighborhood pools that are normally closed on Sundays will remain open.
Wednesday, July 1-Thursday, July 2
- Noon-2 p.m.
- 2:30-4:30 p.m.
- 5-6:30 p.m.
- 7-8:30 p.m.
Friday, July 3-Sunday, July 5
- 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
- 1:30-3:30 p.m.
- 4-6 p.m.
- 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Druid Hill Park Pool will close at 4 p.m. on Friday for the Teen Pool Party. All pools are free, but entry requires a CivicRec account. Visitors do not need to book a specific time.
The department also advised residents not to enter pool areas when closed or without lifeguard presence, emphasizing pools are only open during scheduled hours with trained staff on duty.

Programming changes
All outdoor athletic programming, including track practices, is canceled during the Code Red period, and all outdoor recreation programming is suspended. Tennis camp activities will move indoors during periods of extreme heat.
Athletic permits have not been canceled, but permit holders are encouraged to reschedule activities during the extreme heat whenever possible.
Camp activities will remain indoors during periods of extreme heat, and all transportation will use air-conditioned buses.
Scheduled camp swim trips will continue as planned. Programs at Carrie Murray Nature Center will move indoors, and the July 1 Virginia S. Baker Camp Tree Trekkers trip has been rescheduled.
