HARFORD COUNTY, MD. (WBFF) — Voters in Harford County have reelected Bob Cassilly as County Executive, giving him another term after he secured the Republican nomination and won the 2026 Maryland General Election.
Cassilly, who has served as county executive since December 2022, defeated Republican Patrick Vincenti in the primary, then defeated Democrat Barbara Kreamer in the Maryland General Election.
In his most recent term, Cassilly signed legislation on June 10 that made Harford the first county in Maryland to ban data centers, after County Council members voted unanimously.
Cassilly outlined his focus for the county, which includes keeping taxes low, eliminating wasteful government spending, maintaining safe communities, supporting high-quality schools, recruiting and retaining jobs, and preserving farmland and open space.
He previously served in the Maryland Senate from 2014 to 2022, chaired the Harford County Senate Delegation, and served as the ranking Republican on the Judicial Proceedings Committee.
His administration’s achievements include increasing public safety funding by more than $40 million, maintaining the county’s AAA bond rating, expanding EMS coverage and providing the highest education funding in county history for Harford County Public Schools in fiscal year 2026.
Harford County also advanced land preservation, securing more than 4,200 acres of farmland and beginning renovations of county parks and recreation centers.
Cassilly’s initiatives targeted economic development by encouraging high-tech manufacturing, supporting local farmers, and boosting small businesses through grants and seminars.
According to Cassilly’s campaign, he was born in Havre de Grace and raised in Bel Air and Belcamp.
Bob served three years in Iraq with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Department of State, earning the Bronze Star and the State Department Superior Honor Award.
He served 12 years in the U.S. Army and National Guard, on active and reserve duty, as an enlisted member and as an Infantry and JAG officer.
Cassilly also served as a Harford County Council member, Bel Air Town Commissioner, and mayor.
Now, Cassilly will continue serving as Harford County Executive for another term.
