A robbery at a Baltimore convenience store early Friday morning turned deadly after a masked suspect shot a clerk and then calmly took money from the register before walking out, according to surveillance video shared with FOX45 by the store’s owner.

The owner of Broadway Market said the video showed a figure dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask pull something from his jacket pocket. Seconds later, a gunshot is heard and the suspect can be heard saying, “Give me the money.”

The video then resumes with the suspect walking behind the counter as the clerk lies on the floor. The suspect takes money from the cash register and walks out of the store. The clerk can be heard yelling for help.

The clerk was identified by the store owner as his cousin, 36-year-old Khaled. The owner said Khaled died a few hours later and left behind three children, all between the ages of six and eight.

The owner described his cousin as someone who treated customers like family. “He didn’t argue with nobody, when they fell, when they open the store, everybody, hi, bye, like family,” he said.

Baltimore police are investigating the case as a homicide and armed robbery. Police have not confirmed whether the suspect is connected to other crimes, but the store owner said officers told him the same person may be responsible for other robberies in the area.

“The police, when he come yesterday, he say same guy, he robbed this other store he come in here,” the owner said.

With the shooter still at large, the owner said, “Everybody nice to him, he nice to everybody.” He urged police to arrest the suspect.

“Find him and catch him,” he said. “Nobody find him, nobody do nothing, he come back he kill. He don’t care.”

Baltimore police asked anyone with information to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 866-756-2587.
