City Schools says juvenile killed in weekend shooting student at Mervo High, no arrests

Baltimore City Public Schools confirms a 16-year-old fatally shot inside of a home over the weekend was a student at Mervo High School.

The Baltimore Police Department identified the victim as 16-year-old Jaythan Day.

Officers responded to a home on West Old Cold Spring Lane in north Baltimore around 6:30 pm Friday after a report of a shooting.

According to dispatch audio, Day was found shot in the basement of the home.

He was later pronounced deceased.

On Monday the Baltimore Police Department said the case remains under investigation.

The Department has not yet shared a believed motive, what may have led up to the shooting or any suspect information.

No arrests have been made.

Investigators announced an $8,000 reward for information in the case.

Several other juveniles fell victim to violence over the weekend.

According to police, a 14-year-old male was shot in the 1000 block of Abbott Court, and is expected to survive his injuries.

A 16-year-old female was injured in a cutting on south central avenue. Investigators say the call was domestic related.
