MARYLAND (WBFF) — Repairs for the MD 27 ramp onto eastbound I-70 on Ridge Road, Mount Airy, in Carroll County are set to begin next week, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.
Last fall, the bridge was damaged after being hit by a truck, resulting in the closure of the southbound MD 27 ramp onto eastbound I-70.
The project is expected to be completed this spring, weather permitting, officials said.

The project will begin by removing the side barrier, the bridge deck, and the steel beams in the damaged areas, followed by the installation of new structural elements.
The work will be conducted Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a single-lane closure on northbound MD 27.
The schedule also includes three weeks of work in March, starting from 7 p.m. on Friday and ending the following Monday at 5 a.m., weather permitting.
Detours will be conducted to eastbound I-70, and drivers will use the MD 94 (Woodbine Road) exit to return to the westbound I-70 to continue traveling on northbound MD 27.
Officials said specific dates will be announced later this month.
Additionally, automated speed enforcement will be used on eastbound I-70 and MD 27 at the current speed limits (70 mph on I-70 and 50 mph on MD 27) to enhance safety in the area.
Drivers should slow down, be patient, allow extra travel time, and move over when approaching a work zone.
