HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) — A passenger in a box truck was killed in a two-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 70 in Howard County, and the driver of the other vehicle has been charged, Maryland State Police said.
On Monday, Aug. 31, shortly before 4 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Waterloo Barrack responded to eastbound I-70 near Morgan Station Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash. A preliminary investigation indicates both vehicles were traveling east when a Genesis G80 struck the rear of the box truck, causing the truck to lose control, strike a guardrail, and overturn.
State police identified the deceased as Sakee Ali Davis, 32, of Havre de Grace. Davis was a passenger in the box truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the box truck, Noah Ensminger, 21, of Elkton, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

In consultation with the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office, police identified the Genesis operator as John Amare, 18, of Damascus.
Police said Amare was charged with negligent motor vehicle homicide while under the influence, motor vehicle homicide while impaired by alcohol, negligent manslaughter, and other related charges and citations.
He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
