DC man tampered with GPS monitor then fled Baltimore, authorities say

A Washington, D.C. man admitted in federal court that he escaped from a Baltimore correctional facility last year.

Lamont Antwan Warren, age 46, pleaded guilty to escaping from custody following charges first announced by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes for the District of Maryland and U.S. Marshal Clinton J. Fuchs for the District of Maryland.

According to the plea, authorities transferred Warren on May 22, 2025, from a Waymart, Pennsylvania correctional facility to a Residential Re-Entry Center in Baltimore to finish serving a five-year sentence for sex-abuse crimes. The transfer required Warren to register as a sex offender in Maryland within three days of arrival.

The filing shows that just one day after reaching the facility, staff found Warren under the influence of an unknown drug and carrying unidentified narcotics. Staff told Warren to meet with his case worker, but he refused, ignored their instructions and left the building.

Two minutes later, staff got an alert that Warren had tampered with his GPS monitor, which was soon found in the parking lot outside the center. Warren left the facility without registering as a sex offender as required.

On June 25, 2025, authorities found and arrested Warren in Washington, D.C.

Warren faces a maximum of five years in prison if convicted for escaping from custody, although federal sentences are often less than the maximum. A federal district court judge will decide his punishment after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.
